Hello and a very warm welcome to Animals at Home (Thames Valley). Introductions first! My name is Barney and I am the very handsome grey and white chap in the photograph you see. I am a rescue cat, 12 years old, occasionally grumpy but really quite adorable and my roles and responsibilities include keeping all the squirrels in the local neighbourhood in line as well as being the figurehead for the company.
Now to the lady in the picture, Jacky MacKenzie moved to Teddington from Scotland in 2000, and having given up her senior management career in Post Office Ltd, decided to look for a challenge which utilised her skills and fulfilled her passion for animals. After extensive research, she opened the Thames Valley franchise of Animals at Home on 6 April 2006.
Jacky has considerable experience with pets having kept dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, budgies and goldfish throughout her life. She is also a keen horse rider. This experience has been further enhanced by the training provided by Animals at Home: a certificated basic animal awareness course at The Lawns Veterinary Surgery on the Isle of Wight (thanks to everyone there) and a dog & cat nutrition course.
